There is nothing set in stone regarding the above and the corresponding four directions.  Truth be told you are to be left of your own devices when ascertaining under which direction your animal totem of choice may fall, or as to where your elements or colors of and by your choosing best suit you.

 

Many tribes and peoples have found the four directions to be rather variant and more dependent upon environmental realities, traditional lore, historical values and/or native orientation more so than not, and appropriate the direction or location on the medicine wheel accordingly and/or by just the such.
